While a FAIR may technically satisfy the baseline requirements of AS9102 Rev C, the standard clearly states in §1.1 that its requirements are complementary to customer, statutory, and regulatory requirements. If a customer has supplemental expectations—such as specific ballooning methods, mandatory field entries beyond the standard's "Required" list, or specific electronic formats—those requirements take precedence. AS9100 also requires that organizations flow down and meet all customer-specific requirements (CSRs). If the FAIR does not meet their internal expectations as defined in their Quality Assurance manuals or PO clauses, the customer is generally within their rights to reject the package. Acceptance is typically based on the most stringent requirement between the industry standard and the contract. FAI / Quality tie-in The FAIR is the primary evidence of a stable, capable process. If it fails to meet customer-specific expectations, it creates a risk in the configuration control link between the supplier and the OEM, potentially delaying product acceptance and shipment.
